Raja Ampat is 40 000 km2 archipelago located off the Papua coast, offering magnificent seabed. This area is one of the rare sites ranked 5* in the world. A combination of emerald sea, lagoons, limestone islands, secret passages, mangroves and wild forest provide an outstanding environment. Scarcely inhabited and visited, the park always seems to be explored for the very first time. Mantas Rays,sharks, jacks, shoals of mackerels… We often meet here the wobbegong, an incredible specie of flat shark that lives in the region. Come to discover the « Coral Triangle », one of richest area for biodiversity on Earth. A real gem with an amazing aquatic world and fabulous birds… the pledge to a marvelous journey into the wild. Enjoy the following itinerary has been designed to access to the most engaging locations Raja Ampat has to offer, with intent to dive three times per day. Depending on the weather forecast, we will either plan a route starting from the Southern or the Northern part of the Park.
Day 1
SORONG
Upon arrival in Sorong, you will be picked up at airport by our team to join the boat. Welcome drink, boat briefing including safety rules on board and introduction of the crew members.
Pick up at Sorong airport, transfer to the boat, welcome drink and accommodation. Check dive in the afternoon at one of the reefs surrounding Sorong. Overnight sailing to Dampier Straits.
Day 2 & 3
DAMPIER STRAIT
Diving in the fabulous reefs in the Dampier Straits: Sardine reef, Blue Magic and Mioskon amongst others. Night dive at Saporkren jetties (muck diving).
Early morning excursion under the canopy at Gam to see the birds of paradise. Diving in Mike’s Point, Cape Kri and night dive in Yenbeser.
Day 4 & 5
PENEMU
Dive the jetties of Airborek and the manta sites in Mansuar.
Dive around the Penemu area, in My Reef, Melissa’s Garden, The Lagoon… Afternon ascent to viewpoint in Fam. Overnight sail to Aljuy.
Day 6 – 7
WAIGEO
Dive Aljuy Bay in West Waigeo. Critter diving around Waterlogged, and visit to the pearl farm to witness the process of this interesting industry. Night dive on the jetties of the pearl farm.
Full diving day in Wayag, diving Pelagic Rock, Figure Eight island and any other of the mushroom rocks outside this beautiful natural anchorage. Ascent to the view point in the afternoon and night dive in the lagoon.
Day 8 – 10
SORONG
Dive one of the cave systems in Uranie, and other signature sites of the north route, such as The Cathedral and Magic Mushroom. Overnight sail back to central Raja Ampat.
Dive the reefs around Kawe, such as Eagle Rock, Changgo and Black Reef, and a night dive in the vicinity of the anchorage.
Either two dives in the morning on The Passage or on the black sand slopes of South Batanta, such as Black Beauty or Happy Ending. Sail back to Sorong.
The route and dives are always organized according to the weather conditions, the currents and tides.
