Day 1

LABUAN BAJO

Welcome at Labuan Bajo Airport, on Flores Island, located east of Komodo National Park. Direction the port of Labuan Bajo where the boat Cahaya Mandiri will be anchored. We will then embark on board, meet the crew and take our marks before sailing in the late afternoon to Komodo National Park. Depending on the time of boarding, we prepare for a first launch for a snorkel, palm snorkelling session on exceptional reefs!

Day 2

KOMODO NATIONAL PARK

A ranger from Komodo National Park will be waiting for us early in the morning in Loh Buaya Bay, on Rinca Island. We will start with him a hike during which we will have the opportunity to meet the “Komodo Dragons”, these famous monitor lizards up to 3.50m long! It is not uncommon during this walk to also observe wild monkeys, hinds and buffaloes. Back on board the Cahaya Mandiri and head south towards the island of Padar. Third island of the Park by its size, it is the most widely known because of its cut, sharp relief, identical to the pirate landmarks of our European imagination. If the currents allow it, we will moor a large Pulau Padar bay and disembark for a short hike to a unique viewpoint on the archipelago. Take out your cameras! Late afternoon sailing south of Padar.

Day 3

PADAR ISLAND

Sunrise at Padar viewpoint: we disembark in the bay and walk around 30 minutes to a belvedere offering a beautiful view of the island ragged in several bays. Please note this point of view is very beautiful, it is therefore also quite popular. We leave the island of Padar towards the main island of the archipelago, Komodo. Depending on the weather, a snorkeling session in a bay that is still little known (this can change from year to year). In the afternoon we will be on the outskirts of Pantai Merah, another very beautiful pink sand beach which offers exceptional snorkeling! Sunset from a small vantage point or on the boat.

Day 4

GILI LAWA

We will sail this morning to the reef of Karang Makassar, also called “Manta point”. This area is a “cleaning station” for Manta rays, where their majestic swimming is observable throughout the year in snorkel. We can come across a large number of them, often accompanied by leopard rays which are also rid of their parasites by tiny tropical fish, or some harmless black or white tip reef sharks. Following this unforgettable meeting, we will set sail for the islands of Gili Lawa. Depending on the time we spend in the water in the morning, we undertake a final snorkeling session around the rich reefs of the Gili Lawa Darat and Laut islands.

Day 5

BANTA ISLAND

Snorkeling early in the morning in a pass very rich in marine fauna: the strong currents in this small passage make it a privileged place for reef sharks, barracudas and other predatory fish. If the weather conditions allow it, we will sail towards the end of the morning towards Banta Island between the Komodo archipelago and Sumbawa. Snorkeling on the reefs of the island where it is not uncommon to come across black tip sharks and rays. We will spend the rest of the day on another heavenly beach, ascent possible from a vantage point before sunset (beware on Banta there is no path, ascent in tall grass hiding from the rock garden) . If it is not possible to reach Banta we spend the day on the Gili Lawa islands where we will also enjoy there rich gardens of corals and drop offs where it is not uncommon to come across schools of giant trevallies, sharks and Manta rays. In the evening, navigation to Sabolan our last cruise step.

Day 6

SERAYA BESAR

We will anchor this morning near the paradise island of Sabolan. We will dive into the crystal clear waters to discover the coral reef surrounding the island. We will visit in the early afternoon a small fishing village on Seraya Besar Island (it is not possible to visit the village at low tide). A community of Bajo, otherwise known as “sea nomads”, settled there and we can observe its traditional habitat, on stilts. Disembarking at Labuan Bajo, it’s time to say goodbye to our crew before our transfer to the airport or hotel.

The route and dives are always organized according to the weather conditions, the currents and tides.
